Calculating Your Sewer Rate
Inside City Rates
Your sewer bill is based upon 2 components. The first being the base charge of $26.00. This amount is applied to all sewer accounts. The next component is a volumetric charge. The volume used in the months of November, December and January are averaged and divided by 1,000 (cost is per 1,000 gallons) and multiplied by the volume rate, which is $2.40. The resulting amount becomes effective the following April. This is often referred to as “winter averaging”. These months are used because a normal household will not be using irrigation systems or other outside watering. Your average is re-calculated each year.
For Example:
In November your water usage is 4,000 gallons, December your usage is 6,000 gallons and in January your usage is 5,000 gallons. Add these three numbers and divide by 3. Your average would be 5,000 gallons. Your calculation would be as follows:
5,000/1,000 (you are billed for each 1,000 gallons you use) = 5
Volume rate is $2.40, you would multiply $2.40 X 5 = $12.00. Add the $26.00 base fee and the total will be $38.00.
Your sewer rate is $38.00
You are able to check your usage online at anytime by going to the On-line bill pay option, entering your account number and password. The tabs at the top of the page give you the option to review your consumption (usage) and payment history. You are able to access this information without making a payment. Your account number and password are printed in the upper right corner of your utility bill.

The Fate City Council has approved the following new ordinances:
Ordinance No. 0-1120 - adopting provisions relating to Burglar alarms.
The permits will become effective 60 days after publication and will be available at city hall, per Vicki Mickel (City Manager). The cost is $25.00 initially and $10.00 annually. Senior citizens will pay $10.00 initially and $10.00 renewal each year. This ordinance can be viewed at www.cityoffate.com
Ordinance No. 0-1121 - adopting provisions relating to Fire alarms.

*If your home should have both a burglar & fire alarm; only one permit will need to be purchased from the city.
*Fines could be enforced for non-compliance.

This ordinance was tabled until further notice.
JUNE 1ST CITY COUNCIL MEETING - IESI CONTRACT
Effective August 3rd, 2009
The city council voted for the 6 year extension and changes to the IESI contract, making the changes effective for 10 years. Each resident will now receive their waste disposal charge on the City of Fate water/sewer statement on a monthly basis. You will no longer receive a quarterly statement from IESI for your waste disposal service. During the city council meeting it was stated that the new charges for garbage service will now be $17.74 per month per household; this new service will provide one 96 gallon polycart garbage container and up to 3 (18 gallon) recycle bins, one recycle bin will be delivered and you may request the additional bins if needed. The recycle bins will not come with lids although you may contact IESI if you would like a lid. For those residents that had purchased "IESI" garbage containers, you may sell them back to IESI, they have offered $10.00 each and if you had paid your quarterly trash bill to IESI through August 31st, it is our understanding that they will begin automatic reimbursements beginning August 1st. If you do not receive your reimbursement for the difference in charges from IESI and the new City of Fate billing statement then you may contact IESI(McKinney Office) at 1-903-450-8282 for more information.
Should you decide not to have a lid on your recycle bin or if you are waiting for your requested lid to be delivered; please carefully stack your items prior to setting the bin items out for pick-up so the Texas wind doesn't create a mess in your yards and on the streets.
