Extension Period on Replacement
of Dead Trees/Landscaping
Because we remain under Stage 3 Water Restrictions, the Board of
Directors has extended the amnesty period on replacement of dead
trees and/or landscaping. This will remain in effect through June 1,
or until water restrictions are eased to a minimum of Stage 2 so as
to provide residents with improved success in replacing landscaping.
Stage 3 water restrictions mandate that residents and businesses
wait until the current drought has passed until establishing new
landscaping.
If you think you may have a dead tree, experts recommend that you
delay removal until spring. This is because many homeowners have
difficulty distinguishing between a dormant tree and a dead tree.
Trees that showed severe stress in late 2011 may recover and show
leaves starting in March or April. However, trees and landscape
shrubs that are confirmed to be dead must be removed to provide a
clean appearance. Empty landscape bed areas should also receive a
good cover of several inches of mulch to help prevent weed
germination.
Functions of the Landscape Committee:
landscape@woodcreekfatehoa.com
The Landscape Committee assists in seasonal planning as well as long term improvement planning projects for the common areas and entrances. The committee also serves as judges for the popular summer and holiday Yard of the Month competitions and acts as a second set of ‘eyes’ for the community. The committee also advises management of any landscaping needs, such as repairs, broken sprinkler heads, etc.
There are two ways you can become involved: 1- Committee members serve as judges to choose a yard from the neighborhood considered to look the best for the month or 2- Help in the selection of the seasonal color that goes in the beds and entrances. Three or four times a year, the committee meets for seasonal color selection.
